Our scheduled group climbs to Mount Kilimanjaro depart regularly throughout the season, as shown on the calendar below. If you do not find an expedition date that fits your schedule, please contact us. We are happy to discuss alternative dates and can often arrange a new group departure based on your preferred travel dates.
To secure your place on one of our scheduled group climbs, we require a $100 deposit per person. The remaining balance can be paid upon your arrival in Tanzania.

Tipping Policy at Great Time Experience Adventures
Recommended Tipping Amounts for the Kilimanjaro Support Team
Tipping is a customary way to show appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and service provided by your Kilimanjaro mountain crew. Tips are entirely at the discretion of each guest and should reflect the quality of service received.
Recommended daily tipping amounts:
Lead Guide: USD 20–25 per day
Assistant Guide: USD 15–20 per day
Chef/Cook: USD 12–15 per day
Porters: USD 10–12 per day, per porter
Example:
If four travelers are on the mountain and each contributes USD 5 per day, the group would collectively provide a USD 20 daily tip to the assistant guide.
Recommended Cash
Please bring clean, undamaged U.S. dollar bills issued in 2009 or later. Euros or British pounds may also be used as an alternative. We recommend avoiding coins, as they can be difficult to exchange locally.
Tipping Ceremony
At the end of your expedition, tips are usually presented collectively to the mountain crew during a small tipping ceremony. This typically takes place on the final day, either at the last camp or at the park gate, providing an opportunity for guests to personally thank the team for their support throughout the climb.
Planning Tips For Climbing Kilimanjaro
🛬 Arrive Early
Arrive in Moshi at least one day before your climb. This allows time for rest, briefing, equipment checks, and final preparations before heading to the mountain gate.
🥾 Choose Enough Days
Choose a 6-, 7-, or 8-day climb when possible. Longer routes improve acclimatization and give your body more time to adjust to the altitude.
