Tour plan

Arrival Day

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) greeted by our friendly driver, transfer comfortably to your accommodation at Keys Hotel in Moshi town (overnight stay with breakfast).

Relax and enjoy amenities like a swimming pool and Wi-Fi.

Attend an evening briefing by our experienced manager to ensure you’re prepared for the climb.

Depart Moshi for a 3-hour drive through villages to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Enjoy the scenic rainforest and windy trails while your guide shares insights on local flora and fauna. Hike for 3-4 hours, gaining 396m in elevation, and reach Mti Mkubwa Camp in the rainforest. Expect cooler temperatures and potentially muddy trails. Gaiters and trekking poles are recommended.

After breakfast, leave the rainforest behind and ascend on a path with wide views.

Hike for 6-8 hours, gaining 1110m in elevation, to reach Shira 1 Camp on the Shira Plateau.

Temperatures will begin to drop as you reach higher altitudes.

This day is crucial for acclimatization, though you’ll end at a similar elevation as you began. Hike east from Shira Plateau, passing the Kibo peak junction before continuing to the Lava Tower (4,650m). Descend to Barranco Camp for the night, gaining only 91m in elevation.
Ascend a steep ridge to conquer the adventurous Barranco Wall, reaching the Karanga Valley. Witness the impressive agility of your crew navigating the wall. Hike for 4-5 hours, gaining 48m in elevation, before overnighting at Karanga Camp.
Continue uphill to Barafu Camp, completing the South Circuit with breathtaking summit views. This section offers a variety of angles to admire the peak. Enjoy an early dinner and rest in preparation for the challenging summit night.
Begin your summit attempt with an early morning start (midnight to 2 AM). This is the most demanding part of the trek, both mentally and physically. Ascend through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim, witnessing a magnificent sunrise (faster hikers may see it from the summit). Continue for 1 hour on a snow-covered trail to reach the pinnacle – Uhuru Peak (5,895m)! Savor this incredible achievement, capturing photos and enjoying the moment. Descend to Barafu Camp for lunch and a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended for the loose gravel and volcanic ash terrain. Celebrate your accomplishment and enjoy your last night on the mountain.

After breakfast, participate in a farewell ceremony with your crew.

Descend for 3-4 hours to Mweka Park Gate, receiving your well-deserved summit certificates.

Expect warmer weather, muddier trails, and steeper descents. Gaiters and poles are again recommended.

A vehicle will transfer you from Mweka Gate to Keys Hotel in Moshi town a journey of approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a hot meal and a refreshing shower. After you’ve had time to rest, our safari guide will meet you for a briefing about the next day’s adventure.
